Projector Upgrades & Lens Etching
Our Projector Upgrade services are the ultimate in lighting performance improvement. Technological advances only have two driving factors, to become more efficient and perform better than before. Efficiency makes room for better performance. From halogen bulbs drawing 55watts of energy, HID with 35watts, LED specific projectors at 30watts, even laser technology has made its way into lighting at only 12watts! Although laser is not quite there yet, aftermarket-wise, it should be an industry standard soon enough in the next few years.

Some options will have a Basic and Pro option. The difference is between a generic brand and a well-known industry leader aftermarket brand. Brightness already exceeds factory standards in all cases and just comes down to the quality and warranty coverage. All of the aftermarket projectors are bi-xenon or bi-LED, meaning they can function as both low and high beam.

There are a number of ways of incorporating aftermarket projectors in headlights with reflectors or factory projectors. The most basic way is directly bolting the projectors into the reflector bulb hole with just a few adjustments for fitting. Most aftermarket projectors are designed to have a threaded base where the bulb is inserted. This method is the least accurate as the shape of the reflector bowl is usually pointed down which causes the projector to tilt lower. The reflector is usually adjusted higher than stock settings to make up for it. However, most of the time the adjustments are maxed out and the desired height is still not achieved. The rotation of the light output also has a higher rate of not being horizontally level if not done properly.

Next is known to lighting enthusiasts as the "nut and bolt" method. In our opinion, this process is the messiest. A lot of trimming is involved and one mistake can mean buying another set of headlights to complete the project. The idea is to create similar adjustment points for the projector onto the reflector itself utilizing at least three bolts, as the reflector to the back casing. This allows independent adjustability for the projectors without relying on the factory specifications. Rotation-wise, it has to be perfect since it would not have the same rotational adjustment once everything is finalized, unlike the previous method.

Designing projector retrofit conversion brackets would be the most accurate and easiest of all, and our preferred method whenever possible. This process requires basic knowledge of geometry, computer aided design and a type of CNC machine capable of precision cutting aluminum or steel sheets. Although we used to cut aluminum sheets by hand, we have since invested in a CNC milling machine which allows us to manufacture our brackets in-house.

More focused on our Level 6 Pro Projector Upgrade service, this is the most labor-intensive and the most tedious process of all. To utilize factory headlights with LED array of projectors or reflectors, this process involves fusing two different headlight casings to maintain basic adjustability and achieve waterproof and watertight seal casings. While these types of factory lights are not the brightest, they definitely look unique which explains the high demand for them. The smaller projectors or reflectors are made into an array to make up for the size and brightness that the LEDs can provide. These are strategically mounted on a slight incline to light up certain parts of the road and achieve a horizontal light output. Mounting it any other way would mean a slanted cutoff plane. The aluminum mounting structure of the arrays also double as heat sinks for the LEDs. Removing a huge amount of it will shorten the life span of the LEDs and considering how much this type of conversion costs, we take the initiative to maintain as much of the OEM safety features as possible. After taking all of these in consideration, we take countless geometrical measurements of both headlights to find common points to maintain adjustability and mounting points and most importantly achieve a perfectly horizontal light output and keep the light where it needs to be on the road. We then trim all excess material to make way for the fusion of both casings. They are plastic welded together inside and outside for a perfect seal. Due to the nature of this conversion, some modification and trimming may be required to fit these type of lights into your vehicle.

Projector Lens Upgrade
$123.60
Some headlights are projector equipped from the factory. Since automotive parts are mass produced, most are not made with the same precision and detail as specialized aftermarket brands. Factory projector fresnel lenses diffuse a certain amount of light to conform with laws and regulations.
Instead of swapping the entire projector assembly, we can simply upgrade the fresnel lenses with an optically clear lens with better glass quality. We fine tune the focal height to produce a more focused and sharper light output much like a magnifying glass.

-
3" ⌀ Pro Morimoto Mini D2S 5.0 $564.98
-
3"⌀ Basic NHK G5-X (D2S) $491.22
High Intensity Discharge lights have been leading the lighting industry for more than a hundred years. Xenon gas glows very bright when a high voltage of electricity is applied to it. The bulb has a chamber inside for the xenon gas and an electrode that goes to the top is powered by a ballast that acts much like a transformer to produce higher voltage than what the alternator and battery provides.

HID projectors have the advantage of having a light source that can provide a 360º angle of lighting in all directions dead center of the projector bowls. This allows the light to spread evenly, providing a much wider and more focused light output.

HIDs are comprised of the projector and an HID kit specific to the bulb size of the projector it was made for. The HID kit comes with bulbs, ballasts, igniters and in some cases, a relay wiring harness that is needed to power the kit.
Level 4:
LED Projector Retrofit
-
DDM Tuning H4 Bi-LED 1.5" $445.73
-
Pro Morimoto M LED 2.0 $829.56
-
Basic NHK 5th Gen Bi-LED $643.94
Efficiency is the name of the game. Besides power consumption, there are also less parts involved with LED specific projectors. The bulbs are built-in and irreplaceable and do not require a relay wiring harness. Although it does not need a ballast, it still comes with a module called a driver to power up the high intensity LED bulbs. Much smaller than a ballast, it is easier to mount and hide from plain sight.
Level 5:
High Beam Specific LED Projectors
-
2.5" ⌀ Morimoto Mini HB $503.94
-
3" ⌀ Profile Hi-Lens 2.0 $511.32
-
3" ⌀ Profile Hi-Lens 2.0 RGB $643.61
Much like light pods, these are road legal and specifically designed to be installed inside the headlights to replace or accompany an existing high beam.

There are two distinct projectors available for this option. The first has a much simpler appearance and looks just like any other projector with a 2.5" diameter lens.

The second has a "gatling" style 3" diameter lens, reminiscent of the Infiniti Q45 gatling style projector. It features a built-in halo backlight that can function as daytime running lights and also available in RGB.
Level 6:
Oversized OEM HID Projectors
-
Q45 $956.38
-
LS430 $1156.38
OEM projectors are practically obsolete due to quality aftermarket projectors. Light output is extremely sharp and focused straight out of the box. Very minimal and for the most part no need to fine tune nor upgrade the lenses.

Despite it all, there are two projectors that still managed to stick around, at least for us. These projectors are not just oversized but also very unique in appearance. For enormous reflector based headlights, either of these two are perfect to occupy most of the negative space.

The LS430 projectors, once held the notoriety for the brightest OEM projectors with the sharpest cutoff output. What we love most about it is how the projector itself is offset to the top of the assembly. The bottom half features a reflector contributing to more light output. The shroud is part of the assembly and is oddly shaped, not perfectly round like most projectors and would not be complete without it.

The Q45 gatling style projectors may just be the most unique out of all projectors ever made. It is truly an engineering masterpiece. A staggering 7" in diameter, the glass lens is comprised of seven 1" diameter convexes. The cutoff planes for each convex are distinctively shaped to project the light towards a common point. In stock form, the lines are not perfectly leveled, however, years of experience have taught us to fine tune the focus for a sharper light output.
Level 7:
LED Array
-
Lexus NX $3371.60
-
TLX Jewel Eyes $3171.60
-
Basic NHK Spatial Dimension $3098.80
Basic, what they lack in uniquely designed shrouds like most OEM LED arrays, they make up for in performance. However, who cares about the shrouds? They are just an opportunity to build our own designs. On initial tests, these tiny projectors' performance are truly remarkable even as an individual. Their very small dimensions make them easier to mount and fit in various configurations.

Pro is specific to OEM LED arrays that require the fusion of two different headlight casings. Custom wiring and additional modules are required to adapt these digital and state of the art technology to older model vehicles. We design everything to be plug~n~play as much as possible like every other service we offer, complete with matching labels for matching connectors that also serve as simple instructions for ease of install. The two main projectors we utilize for these types of builds are as listed:

-
2015-2021 Lexus NX200t
-
2014-Present Acura TLX

If you do not see the specific projectors you would like to use, feel free to contact us for inquiry.
Lens Etching:
-
Custom Design $270.80
-
Your Own Design $190.80
-
Existing Design $137.80
-
Patterned Design $164.30
An additional custom touch for your projector lenses. Hundreds of designs to pick from (click on options above to see all available designs) and if that's not enough, we can design one for you!

The designs need to be simple enough for a vinyl cutter to accomplish accurately. Unless it's a patterned design, the image is mirror flipped and resized 30% smaller than the projector lens diameter since the convex magnifies the image and the etching is done from the back. The rest is performed by a professional with a media blaster.
Generic/Dummy Projectors
$335.78
Sure, the entire point of a Projector Retrofit is for better lighting performance. However, aesthetic is just as important in certain situations. Some headlights have a provision for a quad projector or reflector setup. This is a great option if you want to create symmetry without spending a lot of money, especially since most performance projectors already come as a bi option. It can be a fully functional halogen projector, or a dummy.
*We highly recommend not using HIDs in these projectors since it's not built to withstand the extreme heat. LED bulbs is a better option to achieve a white color temperature light output.
